The Appellant was convicted of rape by the District Court of
Handeni and was sentenced to an imprisonment term of 30 years and to pay Tshs.
100,000/= compensation. His appeal to the High Court was unsuccessful. He
further appealed to the Court of Appeal challenging the decision of the High
Court on the ground that the girl was not below eighteen years of age.
