The accused in this matter was charged with murder contrary
to section 196 of the Penal Act, 2004. It was the prosecution case that
on 22nd October, 2005 at or about 2.00 a.m. while in a boat going in
the name of Flying Horse Chumbe within the West District in the Urban West
Unguja region the accused person did intentionally stab the deceased on the
chest causing him to severely bleed to his death. The accused person pleaded
not guilty to the charge. He also raised the defence of insanity to that
effect.
