The Appellant was charged with and convicted of rape. He was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment. He appealed to the High Court which dismissed his appeal. Aggrieved by the decision of the High Court he appealed to the Court of Appeal contending that the medical officer who examined the Complainant was not called to testify; three witnesses who gave evidence at the trial were family members who were likely to be biased and that the whole case was cooked up. The counsel for the Respondent supported the conviction contending that there was sufficient evidence upon which the Appellant was convicted.
